ICMR PROJECT ON ASSESSING FACILITIES IN HOSPITALS / PHCs FOR SCREENING AND TREATMENT OF CERVICAL CANCER
Cervical cancer is the leading cause for cancer deaths in women in India. More than 75,000 Indian women die annually due to this disease. However, early detection by regular screening and awareness about cervical cancer can alleviate the burden of this cancer. For this, it is important to know that how far our PHCs and hospitals are equipped at screening women for cervical cancer and treating those who are affected. Our research survey project, funded by ICMR, was focussed on assessing the available facilities in the hospitals and PHCs of the State of Delhi & NCR for both screening and treating women for cervical cancer. This investigation played a vital role in assessing such facilities to bring attention to the current status and creating possibilities for augmenting initiatives in this direction.
