Mission Statement

Recognizing the urgent need of geriatric care in today’s times, Project MaaPe offers a holistic, affordable, and compassionate service to celebrate the golden years of our elders. Rather than isolating seniors, MaaPe provides opportunities for them to stay connected, remain active and inspired, while continuing to live in their own homes.

An Approach to Active Ageing

  • Rapid advances in healthcare have increased the human life span, and India today has the second largest elderly population in the world. While longevity is a blessing, old age often brings challenges such as physical decline, emotional stress, loneliness, and inadequate family support. Many seniors are left feeling restless, bored, or dependent on others for even small needs. Traditional systems of care are shifting, and old age homes—though available—remain unaffordable or inaccessible for most families.
  • MaaPe aims to provide a vibrant platform for seniors (55+) to relax, rejuvenate, and rediscover themselves. The program helps build self-confidence, reduce dependency on caretakers, and encourage lifelong learning. With a strong focus on Nature-based healthy living, the program integrates emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing through activities such as yoga, meditation, physiotherapy, naturopathy, art, music, and community engagement.
  • As the United Nations has declared 2021–2030 as the Decade of Healthy Ageing, Project MaaPe stands as a timely intervention in India’s geriatric care landscape. It ensures that ageing is not seen as a decline, but as a stage of life that can be fulfilling, joyful, and socially connected. The multifaceted activities are designed to nurture physical health, mental agility, emotional balance, and spiritual growth.

These include:

  • Health awareness talks by experienced doctors and wellness experts.
  • Sessions on healthy diets, medicinal plants, and natural remedies.
  • Yoga, meditation, physiotherapy, and memory-enhancing games.
  • Creative outlets such as art, pottery, music, and crafts.
  • Community gatherings to build social connections and reduce loneliness.
  • Physical Health: Fitness routines, healthy diets, active living.
  • Mental Health: Stress management, problem solving, cognitive games.
  • Emotional Health: Social engagement, peer support, community bonding.
  • Spiritual Health: Belief systems, mindfulness, and inner balance.

Delivery Output

  • Through regular participation, elders are expected to enjoy healthier and happier lives. The program is envisaged to lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases, dementia, and other age-related conditions, while fostering joy, creativity, and a sense of fulfilment.
  • The MaaPe program was field tested in 20 different locations/ residential colonies during 2022-2024 through free introductory sessions. This interactive program was very well received which substantiates the need to expand this work.
